It’s that time of year again! Time for the summer cohort of Business Building 101.

This course is available to go through anytime at your own pace, but a couple of times each year I walk through it in real-time with a live cohort of teachers over 10-12 weeks. This summer’s cohort will be starting the week of June 19th.

Each week, the teachers go through one of the 12 modules and business planning activities independently and then we meet weekly for office hours, where I answer questions, give feedback specific to a teacher’s situation, connect teachers to resources or people they should know, or whip out a spreadsheet and share some numbers. You can ask the members of Cohort 003 about that last one.

There’s lots of information about the contents of the course at the Music Studio Startup website, but today I thought I’d share some testimonials describing what past participants took away from the course.

First from Mary, a cello teacher. Here’s what Mary had to say “The Business Building 101 course was instrumental in guiding me through the process of forming an LLC for my cello studio. The principles I learned during the course were hugely helpful as I created my studio website and it was incredible to share ideas with other members of the cohort during the weekly office hours.”

Here’s another one from Rachel. Rachel says: “I’m so glad that I signed up for the Business Building 101 course! Being brand new to entrepreneurship, the course helped set me on the right path and gave me the opportunity to engage with other business owners facing similar challenges. One of the most valuable components of the course for me was the financial planning that Andrea led us through. Having access to her knowledge as well as the tools that she provided helped me see the financial viability of my business plan and what is needed to move forward with growing my business. The course was well worth the investment.”

Next a quote from a piano teacher, Sophie:

“The Business Building 101 course was EXACTLY what I was looking for when I wanted to find a way to make my piano studio official. From the moment I signed up, I felt that Andrea was right there to hold my hand throughout the entire course. Her positive and engaging approach allowed me to feel welcome to inquire about any aspect of building my piano studio. Her knowledge of musicianship, entrepreneurship, web design, taxes, retirement is impressive and the course was organized and easy to follow. I can not stress how much this is a necessary course for any musician wanting to further their dream of owning their own successful music studio.”

I’ll close with these words from Christy, a guitar teacher, that made me chuckle. Christy writes:

“You have been so incredibly helpful. I’m glad I lost sleep one night and randomly found you on the internet! You are a great resource for people like me.”

Thank you so much, Mary, Rachel, Sophie, and Christy for these kind, kind words.

It’s been such a privilege to work with all of these teachers and I hope this summer I’ll have the opportunity to meet and work with you.

If you’re still on the fence, reach out by email or DM and we can talk about whether or not the course would be a good fit for your goals.

That’s all for today. Thanks for listening! I’ll be back next week.
